The Bowling for Love Bowl-A-Thon is a fundraising event in support of Metro DC PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays). A non-profit organization, serving Northern Virginia, D.C. and Suburban Maryland, Metro DC PFLAG is dedicated to “Preserving Our Families and Protecting Our Kids”. Weunderstand that regardless of politics, religion or personal bias the vast majority of adults care deeply about the safety and the development of our youth. As a professionally staffed organization of parents, families and friends, Metro DC PFLAG is uniquely positioned to provide support, education, and advocacy to keep families strong and insure that our lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning youth grow up safe and healthy. Our family values stress education, understanding, acceptance, and support, but most of all love, thereby empowering our children – straight & gay – to lead happy and productive lives. For more information about our organization, please visit our website at:www.pflagdc.org.
This event will bring people together from throughout the community for a fun filled afternoon of bowling and prizes, while raising money for Metro DC PFLAG’s many programs.
Bowlers will receive three games of bowling and bowling shoes, and the chance to win exciting door prizes donated by local businesses. Each bowler is asked to raise a minimum of $25 in donations. Donations are tax deductible. Awards will be presented to the individuals and teams raising the most money for Metro DC PFLAG so ask your family, friends and colleagues to help. Raffle prizes and a 50/50 drawing will also be available!
Bowlers interested in participating in the bowl-a-thon should form teams of five members and register their team no later than Feb 4th, 2011. Team registration forms are available at www.pflagdc.org or by calling our office at: (202) 638-3852. Teams wishing to bowl competitively will be accommodated.
