Dubbed ‘The Civil Marriage Protection Act’, Maryland’s marriage equality law has just been approved by both houses of the state legislature. The Maryland Senate passed the act on a vote of 25-22 today, after the Maryland House passed the bill last Friday. Once Governor O’Malley signs the law, the “Old Line State” will be the eighth state to legalize marriage equality.
Sure, there’s the threat of a voter referendum. But for now, let’s celebrate yet another victory for fairness, equality, and love.
